Paper Chained is a journal of writings and artistic expressions from individuals affected by incarceration. Founded in 2017, the journal is an autonomous publication. In May 2021, we welcomed Damien Linnane as the new editor.

If you are currently in prison, have experienced time in prison or have a loved one in prison, we welcome your contributions to this journal. Contributions from those supportive of prison reform will also be considered. Learn more about submitting a contribution here.

Cost and Distribution

Paper Chained is posted free to incarcerated people.

It is currently distributed to incarcerated people in Australia, New Zealand and the United States who have submitted contributions, requested copies or who have been referred by friends. Digital copies of the journal can be read on Issuu, or downloaded via our blog.
