About Paper Chained
Paper Chained was founded in 2017. In 2021, the magazine welcomed Damien Linnane, who had been volunteering on the magazine since its creation, as the new editor. Paper Chained is posted free to incarcerated people in Australia, and is available for free from our website. The magazine is funded primarily by the Community Restorative Centre, with assistance from Curtin University.
If you are currently in prison, have experienced time in prison, or you have a loved one in prison, we welcome your contributions to this journal. Contributions from those supportive of prison reform will also be considered. Learn more about submitting a contribution here. Contributions are welcome from people worldwide.
Please contact us if you would like to support the magazine financially through sponsorship. If you wish to support Paper Chained financially, you can make a tax-deductible donation to the Community Restorative Centre here. When making the donation please mention that it is for Paper Chained.
Our website is powered by Ghost, tech support and hosting by Adrian.
Our Mission
Our goal is to provide a constructive and creative outlet for people in custody. By giving incarcerated people a voice through writing and art, Paper Chained aims to support mental health and well-being while encouraging creativity, self-expression and other positive pursuits that can contribute to rehabilitation. We also aim to provide people in custody with useful information and a source of entertainment.
